The People United Group
Yesterday I received a letter from a guy named Dick Black. It spoke of a business offer with The People United Group. It basically is one of those deals where you send $20 to this address and it goes to the 5 people on the list, this also places you on the top of the list, and then you resend the letter using the sales kit to other people and the process continues. It claims what your really doing is purchasing a sales kit so that makes it a legal operation. Seems to be walking a fine line but Im not a lawyer so I’m not sure personally.
Most of the people on the list in the letter I received were very easy to find using Google. I found phone numbers and addresses of almost all of them. I have tried calling some, only to get answering machines. One guy, Glen Brink, I have found on MySpace. His profile shows he has a personal website. On his site it looks like he has his fingers in many different work at home pots. I am still waiting for a reply from him for his take on this particular venture.
The letter requires that you send only money orders, no checks. If you want expedited shipping of your sales kit though, you’re to include $6 in cash only. Strange I must say. All payments are supposed to be sent to a DM Services in Naples Florida to a PO Box 34106. It gives a telephone number for DM Services 239-775-2588 that Google shows to be a Jospeh Gales and gives a physical address also in Napples. I am still awaiting response from the people I have contacted to see if this is scam or not. I will update when more info is available.

I received a money order today for $20 with a flyer referring to this same thing. Interestingly I have never heard of this nor sent out a list or joined a list. The guy that signed it is indeed a person I was able to locate via white pages online and his name is the same as well as his location. No idea what it is about nor was there anything included in the letter telling or requesting me to send money to anyone. Odd for certain.
That is odd for sure. Mine did not include a money order, but asked me to send 5 money orders to the list of people on the sheet. To date none of the people I left messages with or sent emails to have responded. Thanks for your reply and contribution to this post!
I received one of these “People are Making Money!” things in the mail today too. The concept is interesting to say the least. As someone mentioned above, DM Services is the payee but it gives a different PO Box #. It shows 11685. The phone number is the same. It’s probably a scam because if it seems too good to be true…..it’s probably not true. Urban Legends and Truth or Fiction both drew a blank.
I received a letter and it has the same po box on it in Naples, Fl and wants a 10 dollar admin fee cash or money order payable to DM services. Its says you have get 4 people to sign up with you for free and you have to sponsor 4 people then send each one 30 dollars so you will get paid. I think its a scam.
