In a recent news article, it is reported that Sarah Palin, the republican vp nominee, supports altering or amending the constitution to ban gay marriage.  This should be taken as a caution sign and I will tell you why.  It’s pretty clear that Palin is pretty religious.  Some say she is Pentecostal, some say non denominational Christian.  There is a reason separation of church and state was a founding principal our government and country was founded on.

Our founding fathers had several different beliefs on religions but most all practiced the Christian doctrine for rules on how to conduct themselves.  They did however understand the importance of separating the religious beliefs out of the governing body.  They came to this country to escape the control and being told how to live and think.

The whole concept that makes the United States what it is revolves around the freedom of choice, and the idea of freedom itself.  They recognized that people needed a place where they could believe in what made them happy.  They knew it wasn’t their place to enforce their own beliefs onto others, but to give one a choice in what the personally believe.

Today there are politicians that want to enforce their personal beliefs on you and want to make you live the lifestyle they have chosen to live because of their personal religious choices.  In the spot light today is Sarah Palin and her stance on adding a new amendment to the constitution to ban gay marriage.  She feels it needs to be banded because of the way her religion has interpreted a scripture in the bible.   Because of what she thinks, we should all be held to live by the same choices in her opinion.

Besides the  fact we have much larger issues to deal with than whether gay people can get married or not, how would she like it if a gay person was elected to an office and wanted legislature saying you had to be gay to get married?  Doesn’t seem fair to me.  I would hate to be walking down the street with my child and be exposed to PDA from two gay guys, but I really don’t want to see a man and woman all over each other in public either.  Sexual preference is personal and should be for one to choose on their own based on what they prefer and kept private and in the bedroom.  A gay couple in public is no different than me and my wife in public if they conduct themselves in an appropriate way.

Our founding fathers wanted us to be able to choose, to have our freedom of religion and have a choice.  Don’t let religious fanatic politicians take that away from us!

Change in America is on the horizon and long overdue.   The leadership and policies that the American government has run on the past eight years have failed us miserably.  We have lost respect in the world amongst other countries.  Our credibility now worth about as much as our declining dollar.

Hopefully new leadership will bring more diplomacy when addressing issues with other countries.  What makes us think its ok to tell someone they can’t do something that we as a country already do?  How would we respond as a country of citizens if we were invaded by an army and being forced to accept what our invaders believe is best for us?   I think American history has already shown the outcome of that.

Why is it right that the big corporations, CEO’s, and the very wealthy the ones that get the breaks and are expected to contribute less than those that have little and struggle?  Why should an industry that is turning record profits quarter after quarter be given a break on their tax liability.  If you are going to leave the tax burden on the one barely getting by, why also put the burden on them of bailing out banks that participated in corrupt lending practices?

I personally have never voted in a general election.  That is about to change though.  I think it’s important for all Americans who want change to go vote.  This election is turning out to be a very close race so voter turnout is extremely important.  MoneyXperiment.com supports Barack Obama on his presidential bid.  We feel that he brings the greatest possibility of positive change that America so needs to get back on track and continue to be the great country that it is.

Thank god is an election year.  I think this has been the longest 7years of America’s life.  I think that the current rule over the United States has taken us so far backwards as a nation that it will takes years to recover.  The current administration seems only to focus on big business and oil.  Our relations with other countries couldn’t be weaker.  We are in a time when the economy is falling apart and the only real winner today is the oil companies who continue to report record quarterly profits.  I have never been affiliated with a political party, however the current times make me sick to think of ever calling myself a republican.  I think I will continue to be non-affiliated but pray that a republican never gets the opportunity to lead our country again.
